Youth Programming
The Westcott Community Center prides itself in providing quality, acclaimed, successful after school programming.
We currently offer 2 after school programs and a summer program.
The Westcott Kids' Club is the Westcott Community Center's after school
and summer youth program for kids ages 9 - 14 years. The award
winning programs are provided at NO COST to participants. The Kids' Club after school
program operates, following the Syracuse City School calendar, Monday - Friday
from 2:30 - 5:30 pm. The program starts with a healthy snack,
followed by homework help and targeted tutoring. We work on areas
identified by each youth's teacher and have achieved a 30% increase in report
card scores in the targeted areas. This is followed by enrichment activity
choices such as African dancing, computer lab, arts & crafts, cooking,
digital video production & still photography, and many more. We
partner with Syracuse University and Le Moyne College who provide students who
assist in the delivery of these programs.
The 21st Century Community Learning Center at Levy Middle School is operating on a 4 1/2 year grant from the State of New York through the Syracuse City School District (SCSD). Much like the Kids' Club, this is an after school program providing both academic help and enrichment activities to any child of middle school age. In partnership with the SCSD staff and our own program providers we offer the opportunity for success in school and a more enriching life to the participants.
